98-100:365 {Sun Flare}

So last night we were outside as the sun was setting and was really low in the sky.

I thought to myself, "Self, that light is gorgeous. You should go grab your camera."

And I didn't. I was going to ignore myself, as I usually do, but then a neighbor girl ran through this shaft of light that was breaking through the buildings and trees and I inwardly gasped at how gorgeous it was and STILL I ignored myself a little.

I then proceeded to kick my own butt, ran inside, grabbed the camera and the 1.8 lens and commanded my children to follow me NOW! Hurry! Hurry!

I'm so glad I did.







Can you get over how gorgeous that light is?! I can't stop staring at it! Yet one more reason I love my 50mm lens.


I have some decent sized plans for this here bloggity blog, so keep checking back. Hopefully in the near future I'll get my act together and get some things done.

I'm venturing into the world of textures in photos. I found this one from ground*floor on Flickr. I also used a Pioneer Woman Action to boost up that color.

Question: I don't know a whole lot about Photoshop, but it's what I use to edit my photos. Is anyone out there interested in learning what I know? I'm thinking about showing how I edit my photos on this blog, but only if people are interested. I know there are a ton of blogs and websites out there that have a lot more info, but if you're looking for basic stuff... Raise your hand if your interested!

Patter Stats @ The Avenues Street Fair

Since we moved to Salt Lake almost 4 years ago, we've made a point of going to the Avenues Street Fair, which is up in, you guessed it, The Avenues. (Named such because the streets are named 1st Avenue, 2nd Avenue, etc.) The first year we lived in SLC the Fair was hosted on the street we lived on, which made it a must to attend. It was great. Vendors from the area set up tents and showed their wares. Lots of food, knick-knacks, treasures. Two years ago I walked the Fair 9 months pregnant hoping it would induce labor. My baby girl was born a few days later. Anyway, it's our one family tradition and we haven't missed it yet.

This year my brother's band, Patter Stats, performed. It began what maybe be their farewell tour as one of the band members is set to leave on an LDS mission. And, I'm ashamed to say, this was the first time I've heard them live. :( Bad sister, I know. Anyway, I think all the beatings my poor camera has put up with from my 2 year old (she's thrown it on the floor more times than I care to report) are starting to show. A lot of the images from the show came out with the incorrect focus, even though I'm certain I locked it in. And my apologies to the drummer, I didn't get a decent shot!
